Accountant

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Controller in a small accounting department, the Accountant is responsible for a range of accounting functions, including preparation of government contract vouchers, preparing and posting of journal entries, general ledger analysis, bank reconcilliations, monthly closings, indigent care pool reporting, budget preparation for contracts and grants, and daily cash flow reporting. The Accountant works independently with a keen eye for discrepancies and opportunities for improvement, but is also willing and able to take direction. The Accountant performs all work in accordance with Callen-Lorde policies as well as GAAP and other applicable regulations.

Work Schedule/Salary:
The Accountant works from Monday through Friday. Salary will be based on experience (resumes MUST include salary requirements) and will be accompanied by an excellent benefits package, including individual medical and dental insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, generous paid time off, and optional 403B plans.

Qualifications:

    Education, experience:
  • BA in Accounting.
  • Three to five years of similar accounting experience, including government contract vouchering experience, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Experience with the Solomon general ledger system and Paychex very helpful.
  • Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets a must.

Dentist

Position Summary:
Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is New York City's only primary health care center dedicated to meeting the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities and people living with HIV/AIDS - regardless of any patient's ability to pay. Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated Dentist to join our team in providing oral health services to a diverse patient population, including those living with HIV. In this role, you will perform routine preventative and general dentistry, as well as complex treatments for advanced oral diseases and injuries of teeth and gums.

Work Schedule/Salary:
The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours required. Medical Provider - Gynecology

Position Summary:
Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated, full-time gynecology clinician (MD, DO, PA, Women's Health or Ob-Gyn NP, or CNM) to join our team in providing gynecological care to a diverse patient population, including adults and adolescents living with HIV, as well as homeless and disenfranchised youth. In addition, you will participate in our newly established alternative insemination program.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits:
The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours and occasional Saturday coverage are required. Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting primary care providers, physicians, and mid-level providers by providing general nursing care, patient screening, and clinical support. This position reports to the Associate Director of Nursing.

Work Schedule/Salary:
The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Two 12pm-8pm shifts required weekly. Patient Care Associates

Position Summary:
The Patient Care Associates (PCA) are part of our dynamic medical team and work in collaboration with our nursing and provider staff to ensure optimal patient care. The PCA are the primary customer service contact with our patients. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining an efficient flow of patients, visitors, and phone calls into the various systems of the Center, providing administrative support to the clinical staff as well as assisting with the collection of patient registration, billing and payment data. You must have a passion for helping others, be courteous, patient and professional at all times. An entry-level position for recent college grads, it is an excellent way to begin a career in a not-for-profit or health care setting.

Work Schedule/Salary
Full time position - Minimum of 35 hours per week. Salary is paid at an hourly rate, plus excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Social Service related discipline.

Grant Writer

Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Development and External Relations, the Grant Writer researches, writes proposals, renewals and follows through on foundation, corporate and government funding sources, for a growing institutional fundraising program. The Coordinator works in coordination with the grant calendar supporting the Director and working in collaboration with the development team and other program staff.

Work Schedule/Salary:

Negotiable, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience as a grant writer with a proven record of success with corporate, foundation, and government funding sources.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to write under deadline pressures.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to coordinate several writing projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work with staff at all levels, interact with donors, and represent the organization tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Excellent research skills, preferably with experience in researching foundation and corporate funders using online databases and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and fund-raising software (preferably Raiser's Edge) is required.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, self-motivated.

Registered Nurse: Screening/Triage

Position Summary:
The Screening Nurse is responsible for assisting primary care providers by:

  • Screening patient calls and walk-in patients for urgent medical matters and triage the patients to urgent care visits, referrals to ER or other facilities, or home care;
  • Following up on calls from the laboratory regarding alert values;
  • Providing education, information, and support to the patients regarding a variety of medical issues, including HIV and HIV adherence;
  • Providing clinical support during patient care sessions when needed.

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours required. Volunteering

Callen-Lorde welcomes volunteers to provide services to our patients and the community.

Licensed/certified volunteers, providing direct patient care services, must be credentialed by the relevant Callen-Lorde department. Callen-Lorde welcomes qualified volunteers in the following positions:

Medical Providers

MDs, NPs, PAs, DOs. Must be NYS licensed and maintain individual malpractice coverage.

Callen-Lorde volunteer medical providers provide episodic care for patients enrolled in adult primary care services. In addition, some providers choose to work within the Sexual Health Clinic, which provides a comprehensive, sex-positive approach to screening, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of recurrence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) involving both medical and counseling interventions. All medical provider volunteers work Wednesday evenings under the supervision of a staff physician.
