Gifts of Stock
If you own shares of stock that have appreciated in value since you purchased them, donating them to Callen-Lorde might make a lot of sense and have significant advantages over a cash, check or credit card gift.
For instance, if you paid $100 for stock that is now worth $500, your donation is valued at the larger amount even though you only spent $100! Plus, you avoid paying hefty capital gains taxes. A gift of stock maximizes your dollar and can give significant tax benefits – something to consider in your end -of-the-year calculations.
But, as you plan for the future, we do hope that
you’ll want to help further the extraordinary work of our organization by including Callen-Lorde in your plans.

Trusts
With the help of your attorney, you can create an irrevocable trust that allows you to continue receiving interest on the fund, but upon your death the trust’s principal goes to Callen-Lorde. This type, a Charitable Remainder Trust, can also help minimize the tax implications for your heirs.
Another option is a Charitable Lead Trust that is set up during your lifetime, but the interest payments until your death can be donated to Callen-Lorde. You also benefit by avoiding the taxes on those payments.
Leave Callen-Lorde in your will
If you have made plans to leave a gift to Callen-Lorde in your will, please let us know. We’d like to thank you while you’re still with us!
Make Callen-Lorde your life insurance beneficiary
If you have no current beneficiary for your policy, this can be an excellent way to make a major gift to us. Again, please let us know if you have included Callen-Lorde in your plans, so we can acknowledge your generosity.
