POSITIVE LIVING

Postitive Living - Acute Stress Related to HIV

Yale University School of Medicine/Department of Psychiatry and Callen-Lorde Community Health Center have received a grant from NIH (National Institutes if Health) for this project. This project consists of 7 sessions delivered to patients within the first month of their diagnosis by Certified Clinical Social Workers. The primary goal of this intervention is to help newly diagnosed men adapt to living with HIV. There are four central areas that are focused on in the course of the intervention process.

  • Managing stress related to the diagnosis
  • Helping make decisions around disclosing HIV status
  • Maintaining sexual health
  • Assisting patients in entering and continuing care for their HIV infection
