The American
Italian Cancer Foundation Mobile Mammography Unit
is a 37 foot –long van with a comfortable three room layout.
Your visit will include a mammography performed by a certified X-ray
technician, a Clinical Breast Exam, and personalized instruction on
how to perform Breast Self Examination. Your mammography films will
be evaluated by a Board Certified Radiologist and both you and your
provider will have results within 10 business days.
(1) This is the first room
you will visit on the Mammography Van. Here, staff from the Women’s
Outreach Network will assist you in completing your registration paperwork.
Please remember to please bring your insurance card with you, if you
have one.
(2) This is the second room where the mammogram takes
place. Here a certified X-ray Technician will take x-rays of your
breasts. Be sure not to wear any deodorant, lotion, powder, oil,
or perfume on this day as it may interfere with your pictures. Also,
for your convenience, we suggest you wear a two piece outfit.
(3) In the final
stage of your visit, you will be instructed on how to perform
Breast Self Exams. You will also receive a Clinical Breast Exam
from trained personnel. From start to end, your visit in the
van will only last about half an hour.
