Health Education Training & Outreach

Callen-Lorde strives to promote health and wellness by providing LGBT-affirmative health education to all of our patients. Our mission is to supply the LGBT community with health care information that can empower them to make their own health care decisions. Additionally, we provide health information, training, and education to both communities and institutions outside of Callen-Lorde to ensure that LGBT people receive safe and supportive health care services.

Callen-Lorde's Health Education Training and Outreach Program is designed to disseminate LGBT health information to the LGBT community and those organizations that serve the LGBT community.

The Health Education Training and Outreach Program consists of:
  • Providing LGBT sensitivity training to medical, health care, and other social service professionals;
  • Conducting health education workshops throughout the five boroughs on LGBT health priorities;
  • Recruiting new audiences and new patients through outreach activities such as tabling at health fairs.
  • Providing forums for patients and community members to make an impact the services and programs at Callen-Lorde. Click here to learn more about the Transgender Community Advisory Board.
